Chapter Four: The Language of Flowers Workshop
Ginny, Jenn and I took a little road trip last week to Athens to meet Mandy O'Shea at her lovely organic fruit and flower farm, 3 Porch Farm. Mandy is charming and talented and passionate about the farm she runs with her husband Steve. We feel so lucky to have found this amazing farm here in Georgia. When we talked to Mandy about hosting a flower workshop with us she just lit up inside. We flower lovers have to stick together, right?
The team of women that we have working on the workshop is just phenomenal. This will be my first workshop with Ginny who is a visionary as well as a complete delight. I feel extremely blessed to call her my friend. Rinne Allen and her amazing eye-she is for sure what I am most looking forward to on this retreat. The cyanotypes she creates are pure magic. Jen Causey will have her camera in had to capture all of the good things going on throughout the process and the sheer fact that she agreed to be apart of the workshop is awesome. Homemade will be making all of the meals-and woah-Mimi has the key to my heart with her delicious food. I brought some home with me hoping I might be able to savor some of it-that was foolish, my family devoured all of it.
Ginny and I truly hope to spread our love and knowledge on to those of you who join us. The cost of the workshop is $2500 and limited to only 12 students. It will take place May 11-13th in Athens, GA. All the details are below. You can purchase your spot here!
Ashley and Ginny are happy to announce they are teaming up with organic flower farmers Mandy and Steve O’Shea of 3 Porch Farm to host a floral and styling workshop on May 12th and 13th just outside of Athens, Georgia.
Students will learn from seed to stem all about the world of flowers, from seasonality and care of flowers, to the techniques for creating wild, inspired arrangements and bouquets, to some helpful tips and tricks for styling your flowers for editorials. There will even be a class on creating your own cyanotype with foraged botanicals from expert Rinne Allen.
With Ashley’s love and knowledge of flowers, Ginny’s distinct style and eye for detail, and Mandy’s beautiful flower farm students will be immersed in two full days of floral bliss. See below for more details.
*Sunday evening welcome party
+ We will start the day on the farm with a delicious breakfast and soaking up the incredible surroundings. Mandy will educate students on the seasonality of flowers and give everyone a tour of the farm. Students will work freely with advice from Ashley and Mandy. Ashley will also guide students in the practice of iPhotography and how to get the perfect shot.
